Cubs beat up on Dodger pitching, take series

Dodger pitching got knocked around for 15 hits and 9 runs in the finale of the 3-game series at Wrigley Field, losing this one 9-2.  Ray Benge got the start for Brooklyn and he didn't pitch well.  He gave up 11 hits and 6 earned runs in 6.1 innings.  Eight of the Cubs hits were for extra bases.  Chuck Klein finished 3-for-5 with 3 runs scored and 3 RBI's.

Lon Warneke gets the complete game win for the Cubs.  He racked up 8 strikeouts and kept baserunners to a minimum.  The Cubs finished 5-for-13 with runners in scoring position.

This game was close until Chicago blew it open with a 4-run 7th inning.  Lon Warneke led off the hitting with a double, and then, after an out was recorded, Billy Herman singled to put runners at the corners.  Chuck Klein then smashed a 3-run home run.  Ken O'Dea was next up and doubled, then Stan Hack reached on an error from Lonny Frey (the Dodgers committed 4 in the game).  After a line out, Frank Demaree singled to plate the final run of the inning.

The Dodgers now travel to Manhattan to take on the Giants.
