Bucher hit the 1st of his home runs in the 2nd, which was a solo shot and put Brooklyn up 1-0. Brooklyn made it 3-0 in the 4th. Bucher hit a 2-run shot. The Dodgers added 1 in the 6th, but the Giants scored 2 that inning. After 1 was out, Jo-Jo Moore doubled, then Dick Bartell reached on a single + error from Lonnie Frey to score a run and make it 4-1. Bill Terry was hit by a pitch, then Mel Ott singled to score a run.
But the big inning was the 7th. Gus Mancuso began the inning by lining out, then Mark Koenig popped out. The next 9 batters would reach. Slick Castleman walked, then Jo-Jo Moore singled. Dick Bartell then hit hits big home run. Bill Terry then walked, Mel Ott singled, and then Terry scored on a wild pitch. Hank Leiber singled another run home, then Travis Jackson singled in another. Gus Mancuso reached on an error, then Mark Koenig single him home. That's right that was 7 runs on 6 hits.
"Those damn Giants," Manager Williams said after the game. "I hate losin' to 'em. We had the damn game going well but the Giants got us."
