Dodgers swept by Giants

The Dodgers earned a tough luck loss today at the Polo Grounds, dropping the finale of this poorly played series 3-2 in extras.  With 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th, Manager Williams pulled Watty Clark and called on Dutch Leonard to secure the save.  With bases loaded, catcher Babe Phelps let a passed ball get by him, scoring the game-tying run.  

Then, in the 11th, New York won it.  Gus Mancuso led things off with a single, then Mark Koenig walked, after a force out and a fly out, Jo-Jo Moore doubled to score the game-winning run.

Manager Williams spoke after the game about his decision to pull Watty Clark late.  "He was pitchin' well most of the game, but I honestly thought he was completely out of gas.  There were bases loaded, I just felt he needed to go.  Maybe I was wrong."
