In the 8th inning, Tony Cuccinello walked to start things for the Dodgers. Then Joe Stripp struck out, then Al Lopez reached base on the error from the shortstop. Pinch hitter Jimmy Jordan singled to load the bases. Buzz Boyle then walked, Lonny Frey popped out, and Len Koenecke hit a big 2-run single. The score was 9-7 Brooklyn going into the bottom of the 8th. But shockingly, Cincinnati would take the lead. With Ownie Carroll on the mound, Ernie Lombardi flied out. Then Adam Comorosky, who finished 4-for-4 for the Reds, singled. Tony Piet then singled to plate 1 run and put runners at the corners. Piet stole second. Gordon Slade then hit the big, 2-run single to put the Reds up 10-9. In the 9th, Sam Leslie singled to start the inning for Brooklyn, but the Dodgers went down in order after that.
