Freddy Fitzsimmons, Giants out-slug Dodgers

The Dodgers gave up considerably more extra base hits than they produced and lost today's game to the Giants, 7-2.  Freddy Fitzsimmons, starter for the Giants, gave up 0 earned runs over 6.2 and got the win to improve to 14-11.  Mel Ott hit his 32nd home run for the season for the Giants.  Bill Terry hit his 10th home run and Jo-Jo Moore hit his 13th.

The Giants went out to a big lead when they scored 4 in the 2nd inning.  Mel Ott began the inning with a big home run.  Travis Jackson walked.  George Watkins walked.  Blondy Ryan offered up a sacrifice bunt, advancing runners to 2nd and 3rd.  Gus Mancuso hit a 2-run single.  Jo-Jo Moore hit an RBI ground out later in the inning.

Art Herring gets the loss for the Dodgers.  He now stands at 0-5.  Sam Leslie finished 3-for-4 in a notable performance for the Dodgers.
