Dodgers win finale at Ebbets Field

Today was the final game of the season at Ebbets Field, and the Dodgers won it over the Braves, 3-2.  The Dodgers end the season with a 39-38 home record.  Ray Benge got the win today, going 7.2 innings, allowing 7 hits, 2 runs (0 earned).  He holds a 16-9 record and an impressive 2.89 ERA to end the season.  Fans at Ebbets Field were emotional today as the Dodgers did not win the pennant and will end the season at The Polo Grounds.

The Dodgers began their scoring with 2 in the 2nd inning.  After an out was recorded, Sam Leslie singled.  Then, Tony Cuccinello hit an RBI triple.  Al Lopez then singled him home.  The Dodgers would score their 3rd and final run in the 3rd.  Lonny Frey led off the inning with a triple; then, after 2 outs were recorded, Sam Leslie singled him home.  Leslie finished 3-for-4 in the game.

The Braves would score a couple of unearned runs in the 8th.  Les Mallon, a pinch hitter, led off the inning by reaching on an error.  Then Bill Urbanski singled, then Marty McManus hit an RBI single.  After a couple outs were recorded, Randy Moore hit an RBI single.

Thank you, fans, for all your support this season.  We will see you at Ebbets Field in 1935.
