Dodgers complete 4-game sweep of Cincinnati

The Dodgers clubbed the flailing Cincinnati Reds this week, beating them in each game of the 4-game series.  Today's contest featured a remarkable Art Herring on the mound who got the complete game shutout.  The Dodgers won this one, 4-0.  Len Koenecke hit his 14th home run of the season; he had 3 RBI's in the game as well.

The Reds managed just 6 hits, including 1 extra base hit.  They were kept off balance all game by Herring, and only managed 6 at-bats with runners in scoring position.  They left 10 on base.  The Reds have now lost 12 games straight.

Brooklyn took the lead in the 2nd inning on back-to-back doubles by Cuccinello and Stripp.  They added their other 3 runs on the Koenecke home run in the 8th.

Around the League:
  • The Giants swept the Pirates in their 4-game series this week at The Polo Grounds.  They entered the series 11 games back but now stand 7 games back.  It's still a huge long-shot for New York to come back, but they're currently on a 10 game winning streak and look very hot.
