Dean dizzies up the Dodgers

Dizzy Dean pitched a complete game at Sportsman' Park, beating the Dodgers, 6-3, in front of 47,598.  Joe Medwick finished 2-for-4 for St. Louis with a home run and a pair of RBI's.  Tom Zachary gets the loss for Brooklyn; he was hit pretty hard for 4 earned runs over 5 innings.  Brooklyn fell down early in the game and would not come back despite a 3-run 8th inning.

In the 1st inning, after 2 outs were recorded, Frankie Frisch hit a single, then Joe Medwick popped his 2-run home run.  Things continued to go swimmingly for St. Louis in the 2nd inning.  Spud Davis led off the inning with a single, then Chick Fullis doubled.  With runners on 2nd and 3rd, 0 outs, Leo Durocher grounded out to shortstop.  Dizzy Dean walked to load the bases.  Then Pepper Martin hit a sac fly.  Jack Rothrock finished the scoring in the inning with a base hit to plate 1.

For the Dodgers, Lonny Frey had a 4-for-4 game to move his average up to .329.  Danny Taylor hit his 6th home run on the year for Brooklyn.  Both teams banged out 10 hits in the contest.
