Cubs beat Dodgers at Wrigley

Lon Warneke pitched a complete game for the Cubs, picking up the win in a 3-2 Cubs decision.  The game was tied 2-2 going into the 7th inning, and the Cubs ended up scoring that inning.  Tom Zachary gets the loss for Brooklyn.  Les Munns pitched 2 innings of scoreless relief.  A pitching dominated game, this contest saw just 14 combined hits.

The Cubs got out to the lead in the 1st inning, scoring 2 runs.  After Woody English singled, Chuck Klein smashed a big 2-run home run.  The Dodgers would score 2 in the 6th.  After an out was recorded, Johnny Frederick doubled, then Len Koenecke hit an RBI triple.  The next batter, Tony Cuccinello, doubled him home.  But the Cubs scored the winning run in the 7th.  Tuck Stainback reached base on an error.  Then, Stan Hack doubled.  After Warneke struck out, Billy Herman hit a sacrifice fly.

Len Koenecke was 3-for-4 in this game.  His average, now at .349, is 6th best in the league.
