Wilson slams 2 home runs in win vs. Pirates

Hack Wilson hit 2 home runs today in a big win at home over the Pirates, 13-3.  Wilson was 3-for-4 in the game with 3 runs scored and 5 RBI's.  Van Mungo picks up the win; he went 7 innings, allowed 7 hits on 3 earned runs, 2 walks, 4 strikeouts.  Len Koenecke, Lonny Frey, and Tony Cuccinello all had 3 hit games (so did Wilson).  

The Dodgers scored 13, but let's focus on the 4th inning when they scored 6 runs.  With 2 outs recorded, Van Mungo hit a single.  Then Len Koenecke walked.  Lonny Frey then hit a 2-run double.  Danny Taylor singled Frey home, then Hack Wilson hit a 2-run home run.  Johnny Frederick walked and reached 2nd on a passed ball.  Tony Cuccinello then doubled him home.  

"Pittsburgh's a tough team, a very tough team," Manager Williams said after the game.  "Then have multiple weapons.  Fortunately, Arky Vaughan went 0-for-4 in the game.  We need to see more of that."
