Mel Ott powers Giants to victory in game 2

Mel Ott went 4-for-5 with 2 RBI's and Carl Hubbell pitched a complete game, as the New York Giants defeated the Dodgers today, 8-1.  The game was close until the very end when New York scored 5 runs in the 9th.  Until then it was a 3-1 game with Van Mungo mostly matching Carl Hubbell.  In the end, though, Hubbell was simply better.  The Dodgers were only able to muster 4 hits for the game.

Mel Ott doubled home a run in the 1st, singled in 3rd, doubled in the 8th, and singled in the 9th.  His .370 batting average ranks 3rd in the league.  He also ranks 1st in home runs with 21 and 1st in RBI's with 79.

Len Koenecke hit a home run for the Dodgers - which was the only run scored for Brooklyn. He leads the league with 5 home runs off of lefties.
