Dodgers shut out again

For the second straight game the bats have been ice cold as the Dodgers were shut out by the Braves, 6-0.  Shanty Hogan was the hitting start for Boston; he was 3-for-4 with 3 RBI's.  Ed Brandt pitched brilliantly for Boston, going the full 9 innings and allowing just 5 hits and 0 runs.

Second baseman Marty McManus hit a home run for Boston.  Van Mungo pitched okay; he went 6 innings, allowing 7 hits, 3 runs (2 earned), 5 walks and 9 strikeouts.  He picks up the loss as he was out-pitched by Ed Brandt.

The Boston Braves picked up 2 important runs in the 6th inning.  Randy Moore began the inning with a walk, then Buck Jordan singled.  After a wild pitch to put runners on 2nd and 3rd, Shanty Hogan singled through a drawn in infield to make it 3-0 Braves.  They ended up leaving the bases loaded that inning and could have scored a lot more.  Then in the 8th, Bill Urbanski doubled with one out.  Next up was McManus who hit a deep home run to make it 6-0.  There would be no more scoring.

"Right when we were headed for .500, our creditors have come knockin' on our door," Manager Williams said.  "Right when things were looking good, we've gotten a wake up call."
