The big Dodger rally in the 8th inning went this way: Danny Taylor led off the inning when he lined a single to center. Sam Leslie then doubled to put runners at 2nd and 3rd. Lonny Frey then struck out, but Joe Stripp was next and he laced a single to score 2 runs.
The Cubs made it exciting in the 9th. Van Mungo was called on in short rest to close out the game. Babe Herman led off the inning with a base hit. Kiki Cuyler hit into a force out. Tuck Stainback singled and reached 2nd on the error from second baseman Glenn Chapman. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, Don Hurst grounded out. Babe Phelps grabbed a bat and he pinch hit. He ended the game on a ground out.
It was a classic example of not quitting when you're behind. The Dodgers should be proud of this one.
