Dodgers come from behind, beat Cubs

The Dodgers bullpen performed immaculately, and the Dodgers were able to string some hits together to come from behind and beat the Cubs in game 3 of the series, 4-3.  Brooklyn had a rally in the bottom of the 8th inning that produced 2 runs.  Brooklyn starter Les Munns was pulled early by Manager Williams in what would prove to be a smart move.  It was the relievers who pitched 4 scoreless innings to secure the win.  Red Lucas gets the win; Van Mungo gets the save after closing out the 9th.

The big Dodger rally in the 8th inning went this way:  Danny Taylor led off the inning when he lined a single to center.  Sam Leslie then doubled to put runners at 2nd and 3rd.  Lonny Frey then struck out, but Joe Stripp was next and he laced a single to score 2 runs.

The Cubs made it exciting in the 9th.  Van Mungo was called on in short rest to close out the game.  Babe Herman led off the inning with a base hit.  Kiki Cuyler hit into a force out.  Tuck Stainback singled and reached 2nd on the error from second baseman Glenn Chapman.  With runners on 2nd and 3rd, Don Hurst grounded out.  Babe Phelps grabbed a bat and he pinch hit.  He ended the game on a ground out.

It was a classic example of not quitting when you're behind.  The Dodgers should be proud of this one.
