Dodgers take the opener at Crosley Field

Buzz Boyle had 4 hits and Johnny Babich pitched a complete game in a 3-2 win at Crosley Field.  The Dodgers won this close one with good pitching.  The Dodgers improve to a 3-2 record on the current road trip.

The Reds opened up the scoring in the game.  Jim Bottomley hit a sacrifice fly to score Tony Piet.  The Dodgers would score 2 in the 2nd to take the lead.  Sam Leslie led off the inning with a double, Hack Wilson immediately followed with a double.  After an out was recorded, Jimmy Jordan hit a sac fly.  The Reds tied it with a run in the 4th.  Mark Koenig opened the inning with a single.  Jim Bottomley walked.  After a strikeout, Ivy Shiver would hit an RBI single.  Shiver reached 2nd but could not score.  The Dodgers would score the decisive run in the 5th.  After an out, Johnny Babich reached on an error.  Buzz Boyle singled.  After a fly out, Joe Stripp singled in a run.

Babich picks up his 3rd win in this effort.  Len Koenecke, after a 5-hit performance yesterday, went 0-for-5.
