Dodgers pile on another loss

Another day, another big loss for the Dodgers as they drop another decision to the Cubs, 4-2.  Charlie Root went the distance for Chicago, allowing 8 hits and 2 earned runs.  Les Munns, who has struggled all season, went 6 innings and allowed 4 earned runs.  The Dodgers continue to struggle in a downcast season.

The Dodgers were first to score when they notched a run in the 2nd inning.  Ray Berres knocked in Sam Leslie with an RBI single.  But the Cubs would come 'full force' in the 6th.  After 2 outs were recorded, Ki-ki Cuyler singled.  Then Babe Phelps singled.  After a wild pitch, Billy Jurges doubled, scoring both.  Then Charlie Grimm doubled, scoring him.

Joe Stripp doubled in a run for the Dodgers in the 6th, but it wasn't enough.  "We look horrible out there," Manager Mathew Williams said.  "We look like a losin' ball club.  Everytime I put in a pitcher, it backfires.  We score some runs but we can't prevent runs worth a damn."
