Babich pitches well, but Dodgers drop opener to Cubs

Today's game featured a fantastic pitching duel between Dodgers starter Johnny Babich and the Cubs' Guy Bush, but in the end it was the Cubs who pulled it off in 10 innings, 2-0.  The game marked the 4th time that Brooklyn has been shutout this season.

Guy Bush pitched a complete game shutout for the Cubs - his 2nd of the season.  He was just a shade better than Babich.  Babich, to his credit, only allowed a runner to reach scoring position twice until the 10th.  But in the top of the 10th he allowed back-to-back singles to start the inning.  After a sacrifice fly, two more singles would seal the deal for the Cubs.

The Dodgers were 0-for-5 with runners in scoring position in the game, while the Cubs were 2 for 6.  Hats off to Chuck Klein who had a 3-hit game.
