Benge pitches gem and Dodgers take series

Ray Benge spun an absolute gem of a game as he went the distance to in a 3-0 Dodger win.  Benge allowed just 2 hits (2 singles who never got past 1st base) to go with 3 strikeouts.  He did not walk any batters.  His ERA now stands at a very small 1.94.

On the offensive side, Lonny Frey had 4 hits, including a pair of doubles.  He's been hitting nicely recently.  The Dodgers actually should have won this game by a larger margin because they were just 2-for-16 with runners in scoring position.  They were leaving runners on base left and right.

The Dodgers scored in the 5th inning.  Joe Stripp reached base on a shortstop error.  After Koenecke flied out, Danny Taylor hit a triple.  In the 8th inning, the Dodgers scored 2.  Sam Leslie led off with a single but was cut down trying to steal second.  After a ground out from Cuccinello, Frey and Frederick hit back-to-back singles.  Al Lopez then doubled them both home.
