Here is how the scoring went down:
In the 3rd inning, the Dodgers scored first. Jimmy Jordan doubled and got to 2nd on a sacrifice bunt from pitcher Dutch Leonard. Lonny Frey then hit a single, scoring Jordan. But the Giants would answer right back in their half of the 3rd. After an out, Carl Hubbell doubled and was plated home by the next hitter Jo-Jo Moore. The Giants were the next team to score in the 6th. After Bill Terry walked, Mel Ott hit an absolute missile deep over the right field wall, making it 3-1 Giants in the lead. The Dodgers would respond in the 7th. Al Lopez singled, and after an out was recorded, Dutch Leonard singled to put runners on the corners. Glenn Chapman hit into a force play, scoring Lopez and making it 3-2. In the 8th, the Dodgers would score 2 to take the lead. With two out, Sam Leslie singled. Len Koenecke then a double to right center; the center fielder Homer Peel then threw the ball away for an error, allowing 2 to score. But the Giants would tie the game in the bottom of the 9th. Pinch hitter Phil Weintraub opened up the inning with a single to center. Then, pinch hitter Gus Mancuso sacrificed, getting Weintraub to 2nd. Jo-Jo Moore then singled.
In the bottom of the 10th, the Giants threatened. New pitcher for the Dodgers, Les Munns was struggling. Bill Terry walked, then Mel Ott was hit by a pitch. After Travis Jackson fouled out, George Grantham hit into a double play, ending the inning.
In the 11th, Al Lopez singled with one out, then Jimmy Jordan doubled, putting runners at 2nd and 3rd. Les Munns lined out. But Buzz Boyle answered with a crucial single to right field, scoring both runners. This was a game that really could have went to either team and it was excellent the Dodgers were able to pull it off.
