Phillies defeat Dodgers in a laugher

The Phillies pulverized the Dodgers at Ebbets Field today, pounding out 25 hits and 17 runs in a big, 17-1 win.  Ethan Allen finished the game 6-for-6.  Right fielder Johnny Moore was 4-for-7 with 5 RBI's.  It was a regular hit parade today, and the Dodgers were left watching dumbfounded.  Brooklyn managed just 7 hits.  Every Phillie in the lineup except for the pitcher had multiple hit games.  The Phillies scored 6 in the 4th inning and 6th in the 8th.

Phil Collins (14-17) pitched well for Philadelphia.  He went the distance, allowing 7 hits, but just 1 run, with 2 walks and 5 strikeouts.  Collins mowed down Dodger hitters.  The one run he allowed was a Lonny Frey solo shot.

But Ethan Allen was the story in this one.  He doubled in a run in the 1st inning, singled in the 3rd inning, hit another RBI single in the 4th, singled in the 5th, hit an RBI single in the 7th, and another RBI single in the 8th.  He was unstoppable and provided one of the great performances we've seen this year.  Yes it was a tough game but sometimes these games happen.  The series continues.
