Dodgers take care of Braves in series opener

At Braves Field the Dodgers pulled off a 5-1 victory in front of 26,500 fans.  Ownie Carroll gets the win for Brooklyn; he went 6 innings, allowing 7 hits, 1 earned run.  Johnny Frederick finished 3-for-4 and Len Koenecke hit his 42nd double of the year.

The Dodgers plated 4 in a crucial 6th inning.  Johnny Frederick led off with a single.  Jim Bucher put down a sac bunt to advance Frederick.  Len Koenecke then hit an RBI double.  After an out was recorded, Koenecke scored on a passed ball.  Danny Taylor singled and reached 2nd on an error.  Tony Cuccinello then singled and advanced on an error which plated another.  Al Lopez then singled to score the final run of the inning.

The Braves were just 1 for 11 with runners in scoring position and could not get the big hit necessary.  The Braves left 13 runners on in total.
