Dodgers post 2 runs in the 9th to win it

What a thrilling game at Braves Field today as the Dodgers came from behind late to win it, 4-3.  The Braves broke the 2-2 tie in the bottom of the 8th with a run scored, but the Dodgers responded with 2 runs in the 9th to pull it off.  Dutch Leonard gets the win in relief for Brooklyn.  Bob Smith, who threw 146 pitches, gets the complete game loss.

The bottom of the 6th inning saw an exciting play.  Boston had runners on 1st and 3rd when Manager Bill McKechnie decided to do something risky: he called for a delayed steal.  As Tommy Thompson broke for 2nd, Pinky Whitney ran down the 3rd base line attempting to take home.  Clyde Sukeforth's throw to 2nd was cut off and Whitney was nailed at the plate.  That play prevented Boston from taking the lead.

The Dodgers scored their 2 in the 9th inning this way: Johnny Frederick pinch hit for Bucher and he walked.  Then pinch hitter Al Lopez singled.  After a sac bunt from Leonard, Buzz Boyle hit a big single to tie the game.  Then Len Koenecke, who had 2 hits in the game, hit into a force play to score the runner from 3rd.  The Braves had a 2 out double from Marty McManus in the 9th but couldn't score him.
