Dodgers finish the season at .500

The Dodgers were able to pull out a win on the final game of the season to clinch a .500 record for the 1934 season.  The Dodgers finish 77-77.  Van Mungo won his 19th game of the season, and he pitched well: 8 innings, 6 hits, 2 earned runs.  Mungo had a fine season for the Dodgers, ending it with a 2.77 ERA.  Jimmy Jordan had 3 hits, a run, and an RBI for Brooklyn.

The Giants finish the season in 2nd place with a respectable 88-66 record.  Mel Ott, who went 0-for-4, finishes the season with a .370 average.  

Manager Mathew Williams wanted to take a moment to thank the fans.

"I want to thank all of you who supported us this season," Williams said.  "It's an honor representing the city of Brooklyn and our fans.  Our fans cheered us on all season.  Although we didn't win the pennant, we will continue to fight it out until we do.  I want to see the fans again for the 1935 season.  Enjoy the World Series, fans, and we will see you soon.!"
