Phillies come from behind to beat Dodgers

The Dodgers scored 6 runs in the opening inning but ended up giving this one away; they lost 10-7.  Van Mungo got the start for Brooklyn and he finished with an odd line: 7 innings pitched, 12 hits allowed, 7 runs allowed (1 earned run), 2 walks, 8 strikeouts.  Yes, some crucial errors cost the Dodgers the game along with a weak bullpen.

The Phillies scored 5 runs in the 4th inning.  Hot hitting Johnny Moore led off the inning with a single.  After an out was recorded and Moore reached 2nd, Kiddo Davis singled to score 1 run.  Then Jimmie Wilson struck out.  Irv Jeffries singled to put runners at 1st and 3rd.  Pitcher Snipe Hansen was next and he hit a fly ball to left field that Glenn Chapman muffed, scoring 1.  Back to back doubles from Bartell and Chiozza plated 3 more runs.

The Phillies added 3 in the 8th inning.  Chiozza (who finished 4-for-5) singled, then Ethan Allen singled, then Johnny Moore singled to plate 1.  Dolph Camilli struck out.  Kiddo Davis hit a sacrifice fly, then Jimmie Wilson singled to score another.  Dodgers reliever Harry Smythe pitched that inning and he got knocked around.
