Dodgers knock off Braves, 3-1

The Dodgers beat the Braves today at Braves Field, 3-1, behind some very good pitching.  Johnny Babich started the game for the Braves but he left with an injury.  Les Munns was called upon to pitch some long relief.  He did really well, going 4 innings, allowing just 1 hit and 0 runs.  That's the kind of bullpen Brooklyn's going to need if they want to go places.  Braves starter Fred Frankhouse pitched also, but was outdueled by Brooklyn.

The Dodgers got out to the lead in the 1st inning.  With 1 out, Lonny Frey singled.  Then, Danny Taylor singled to put runners at the corners; after that, Len Koenecke walked to load the bases.  Sam Leslie was next up and he hit a sacrifice fly to score the run.  Boston scored on an RBI ground out by Wally Berger in their half of the 1st.  But Brooklyn would score again and Boston didn't.  The Dodgers made it 2-1 in the 5th.  Al Lopez walked, then Johnny Babich bunted him to 2nd.  Buzz Boyle then singled to put runners at the corners.  Lonny Frey hit into a force out.  Danny Taylor then delivered an RBI single.  Brooklyn would add a run in the 9th off the bat of Buzz Boyle.
