Dodgers cruise to 7th straight win

In game 2 of the series at The Polo Grounds, the Brooklyn Dodgers beat the Giants 4-2 behind another masterful pitching performance, this one by Van Mungo.  Mungo went the distance, allowing 6 hits, 2 earned runs (both on home runs), 2 walks and 6 strikeouts.  He fooled Mel Ott who finished 0-for-4.  Len Koenecke finished 2-for-5 with a home run.  Jo-Jo Moore of the Giants hit both of their home runs.

Buzz Boyle led off the 3rd inning with a single, then Len Koenecke hit a home run, putting Brooklyn up 2-0.  The Giants would respond in the bottom half of the inning.  After an out was recorded, Moore hit one of his home runs.  The Dodgers would add runs in the 5th and 6th innings.

The Giants had a rally going in the 8th inning.  Down 4-1, Moore hit his 2nd home run to lead off the inning, making it 4-2.  Hugh Critz then reached on an error by Jim Bucher.  Bill Terry then singled.  But Van Mungo was tough, as the Giants went down 1-2-3 after that.  The Giants had an opportunity but wasted it.  They went quietly in the 9th.
