In one of the most unbelievable comebacks in baseball history, the Cincinnati Reds entered the bottom of the 9th down 7-0 only to walk it off with 8 runs over the Phillies. The odds of this event happening are probably about 1 in 1,000 at least. Let's take a look at how the Reds got it done.
The Reds began the inning with a ground out to second! Then, Ernie Lombardi singled; Wes Schulmerich walked; Jimmy Shevlin singled to load the bases. Gordon Slade then singled, scoring 1. Sparky Adams singled, plating 2. Mark Koenig doubled, plating 1. At this point, the Phillies still led by 3. Jim Bottomley then struck out. With 2 outs, Chick Hafey walked to load the bases. And then, Harlin Pool hit a walk off grand slam to win the game!
This game was unforgettable.
