Koenecke goes 5-for-6 in win vs. Reds

One thing that has characterized this Brooklyn team from the beginning is its tendency to hit in bursts.  These 'hit parades' are a major reason they are number 1 offensively in the league.  It was also the reason another big win, this team in a series opener today in Cincinnati.

The Dodgers, in what now seems to be routine fashion, put up another big total of hits - this time 20, led by Len Koenecke who had 5 hits and 3 runs scored.  Six of the 9 hitters had multiple hit games.  Sam Leslie hit another monster home run.  Ray Benge turned in another masterful performance on the mound: he completed the game, allowing 7 hits, 1 run, 1 earned run, 1 walk, 1 strikeout.  The one run he did allow was a home run off the bat of Jim Bottomley.
