Dodgers win 4th straight behind Mungo complete game

The Dodgers successful ways continued today as they won their 4th straight, and 5th of 6, behind the arm of Van Mungo.  The Dodgers also had a big, 8-run inning as they beat the Reds, 8-2.  Brooklyn is now just 6 games under .500.

Van Mungo went the distance, allowing just 5 hits and 2 earned runs.  He struck out 7.  He looked commanding all game and improves to an 8-6 record.

The Dodgers scored all of their 8 runs in the 5th inning.  Reds starter Si Johnson walked both Boyle and Koenecke to start the inning.  Danny Taylor then singled, scoring 1 run.  Sam Leslie singled, loading the bases.  Tony Cuccinello then hit a 2-run single.  Al Lopez walked, Jimmy Jordan hit a sacrifice fly for the 1st out of the inning (6 had reached base consecutively without an out).  Jim Bucher walked, to load the bases.  Van Mungo then hit into a force play (runner on 3rd tagged out at home).  Buzz Boyle, up for the 2nd time in the inning, hit a single to score 2 runs.  Len Koenecke doubled to plate 2 more.  Danny Taylor then flied out.
