Dizzy Dean shuts down Dodgers

The Dodgers losing streak has reached 8 after St. Louis starter Dizzy Dean threw a complete shutout gem en route to a 5-0 Cardinals win.  Dean was unstoppable all game, allowing just 4 hits and striking out 7.  He reduced his ERA from 1.84 to 1.55.

The Dodgers were hoping that with Van Mungo on the mound, they could break this nightmarish losing streak.  But Van Mungo wasn't great in this game; he went 8 innings and allowed 5 earned runs.  The fact is, he simply was not as good as his stellar counterpart.  Cardinals first baseman Ripper Collins hit a towering, 3-run home run off him in the 1st inning.  

Brooklyn is 1-9 in their last 10 and hoping to finish this road trip with a win in the finale of this series.
