Braves smoke Dodgers in opener

Well, the Dodgers left the confines of Ebbets Field to search out victory.  Did they find it?  No, in game 1 of their series at Braves Park they did not; they fell 4-2.  The Dodgers scored 2 runs in the top of the 3rd inning, but they allowed 4 runs in the bottom half of the inning and that was all the scoring in the game.  Fred Frankhouse picks up the victory for Boston, and Tom Zachary got the loss for Brooklyn.

Frankhouse was in command this game, going a full 9 innings, allowing just 4 hits.  He walked 4 and struck out 7.  Zachary wasn't as good; he went 6 innings and allowed 4 earned runs.

Brooklyn scored their 2 runs on a 2-run triple by Buzz Boyle.  Jimmy Jordan led off the inning and flied out, then Tom Zachary walked.  Leadoff hitter Johnny Frederick then walked before the Boyle triple.  Boston scored their 4 runs on a 2-run triple of their own by Tommy Thompson.  They added the next 2 runs on singles.
