Braves, led by Buck Jordan, topple Dodgers again

The Dodgers dropped their 2nd in a row to the Boston Braves today, losing 6-2.  First baseman Buck Jordan was a force at the plate again; he finished 3-for-5 (with a triple) with 3 RBI's.  The Braves pounded out 13 hits to Brooklyn's mere 6.  Danny MacFayden got the start for Boston and he pitched very well, limiting the Dodgers to 2 runs (both unearned).  The Braves were a strong offensive force, finishing 5-for-19 with runners in scoring position.  The Braves went ahead in the 3rd inning and never looked back.

The scoring in the 3rd inning went this way: Danny MacFayden led off with a walk.  Les Mallon laid down a sacrifice bunt to push MacFayden to 2nd base.  Billy Urbanski walked, then Wally Berger grounded out.  Buck Jordan then laced a 2-run single to center to make it 2-0.  Jordan would then steal a base but no more scoring took place in the inning.  The Braves added 2 more in the 5th.  Les Mallon led off with a double, then Billy Urbanski struck out.  Wally Berger lined out, then Buck Jordan hit a big RBI triple.  Tommy Thompson then singled him home.

The Dodgers scored their only 2 runs in the 8th inning.  After an out was recorded, pinch hitter Joe Stripp hit a single, then Buzz Boyle hit a single + error to score a run and put a runner on 3rd.  Len Koenecke then singled him home.  But in the 9th, the Braves would add to their lead.  Tommy Thompson led off with a home run off Dutch Leonard.  Then, after an out and a 2-base error put Hal Lee at 2nd, Al Spohrer hit an RBI single.

The Dodgers were over-powered in this game.
