The Dodgers began the scoring in the 1st. Boyle singled to lead things off, then after 2 were out, Sam Leslie hit a big double to plate the run. But the Pirates would respond immediately. After 2 outs were recorded, Arky Vaughn singled, then Paul Waner doubled to score him. Next up was Gus Suhr and he pounded a deep home run to left to make it 3-1.
The Dodgers would tie it in the 3rd inning. Boyle singled and stole 2nd. Joe Stripp then hit a grounder to Pirates shortstop Vaughn who threw the ball into the dugout, leading to 1 run. After a walk, 2 batters were retired. Jim Bucher then singled to make it 3-3.
The Dodgers would take the lead in the 4th. Frenchy Bordagaray singled, then reached 2nd on a sac bunt by pitcher Ray Benge. Buzz Boyle singled to put runners at the corners. Then, Manager Mathew Williams ordered a delayed steal. Boyle stole his 2nd base of the game while Bordagaray stayed on 3rd. Then Joe Stripp hit a 2-RBI single to make it 5-3. The Dodgers wouldn't look back; they'd add a run in the 8th and win this one, 6-3.
The Dodgers were an impressive 4 for 14 with runners in scoring position in this game.
