Phillies nip Dodgers, 5-3

The Phillies scored 2 runs in the 9th inning to break the tie and eventually win it, 5-3.  Cy Moore gets the win in relief, while Dutch Leonard gets the loss after surrendering 2 earned runs.  Kiddo Davis went 3-for-5 for the Phillies with a triple.

Philadelphia's 9th inning runs happened this way: After 2 were out, Lou Chiozza hit a single and advanced to second on an error.  Then, Ethan Allen lined a base hit to score a run and advanced to 2nd on the throw coming home.  Johnny Moore then singled in the final run of the inning.  This was a close game throughout, as it was tied 3-3 from the 3rd to the 9th innings.  Brooklyn had a chance to take the lead in the 8th; after a Cuccinello singled, Glenn Chapman tried to bunt him over to 2nd, but the popped the bunt up and Cuccinello was doubled off 2nd.  The Dodgers also had a chance to score big in the 6th.  Both Ray Berres and Van Mungo struck out with the bases loaded to ruin the prospect for runs.

The Dodgers now sit at .500 at 75-75.
